Other antennas I have built.

2-meter ground plane. (still in my attic)
Discone scanner antenna.
2-meter Zep antenna. (did not work well)
2-meter collinear. (could not figure out the coupler on the bottom)
2-meter 440 J Pole.  Worked better than a ground plane but not by much.
This is my efforts to home build antennas for ham radio use.
With my own knowledge and the help with many on Eham  http://www.eham.net/  I have been able to construct all of the antennas I use so far.  You would be surprised as to just how easy it is.  For now, I only have 2 meter FM equipment, (Soon to change).  Because their size is small it is much easier to do than you may think.
Every thing I have made has been produce with items I already had laying around the house.  The only materials I have purchased were the following:

10 three foot lengths of 1/8" brass welding rods @.79 cents each.  (For the elements)
5 Male PL259 chassis connectors from online @ $1.10 each.

All the PVC and T connectors I found lying around.
Detroit Edison was here one day and donated 10' of #6 copper wire.  (Makes great driven elements)
There are many great tried and true antenna plans out there to use.  Just decide what it is you want the antenna to do and go for it.  In my humble opinion, the Quad antenna was the easiest to construct, and probably the most forgiving design.  Yagi's are less forgiving if you have your dimensions wrong.
I hope you enjoy them.
